Ylang-Ylang Extra Superior Oil, Org
This is the famed ylang-ylang extra "superior" oil from Comoros (organic edition), the brightest ylang-ylang quality there is. This is the oil that Ernest Beaux demanded for Chanel No 5 because nothing else had top notes penetrating enough to handle the aldehyde overload. Most vendors settle for Madagascan processed extracts as they are less costly, but the Comoros oils remain to this day the peak of cananga perfection.
From the ethereal fruity top notes to the intensely sweet and lasting dry down, you will be absolutely converted to this quality of ylang ylang. This is the stuff of legends.
In ylang-ylang production terms, the "superior" oil is taken during the first few minutes of steam distilled extraction, giving the truest and most beautiful representation of the flower in nature. Following that is the more heart balanced “extra” grade (organic) which can comprise up to 40 or 50% of the total remaining oil. The more functional remnants are sold as grade I ,grade II and grade III or taken on the whole as “complete” oil. Only complete and grade III are of value to modern perfumers with grade III being a cheap oil for soaps and "complete" oil being useful as a general low-cost all-purpose ylang ylang which blends very well with most other florals.
If you are looking for a synthetic replacer for ylang-ylang oil that can be used at much higher quantities, you may prefer our wonderfully realistic Ylang Impérial base.
