Frankincense Sacra Oil, Oman
Frankincense can be a little confusing because it has multiple names. The classical name is Olibanum (from an Arabic word meaning milk) while more recently the term Frankincense has become the norm.
To further complicate things we have two common types used in perfumery:Boswellia carterii and Boswellia sacra. The differences between these two varieties is minuscule and basically the region of growth determines the term used (inconsistently from supplier to supplier) with the sacra type coming from Oman and Yemen and the carterii coming from Somalia and East Africa.
The Frankincense Sacra oil we offer here is from Oman and it is a spectacular version, being sweet and perfumistic with a less camphoraceous opening than the Somalian frankincense oil we also stock.
Origin: Oman
Part: Pathological exudate from bark
Method: Steam distillation
