Ambergris Tincture 2%
It seems almost too good to be true but it isn't! This is a deluxe natural grey ambergris tincture that goes against the norm by being a mainstay of our specialist supplier's catalogue. Through a very long relationship with local ambergris gatherers in New Caledonia, this is a readily available material.
Ambergris tincture is marine and animalic with fecal qualities. It's ability to fix (to make something last longer) a perfume is historically renowned and despite its origins as a pathological metabolite of sperm whales which are considered endangered, this is not restricted in perfumery (though some countries do have restrictions on importing the product).
While no hard and fast rule ever existed to determine the right amount of tincture to use in a perfume, we recommend around 1% – 3% of the total weight in alcohol. so 100 grams (or mls or drops) of alcohol will have 1–3 grams (or ml or drops) of Ambergris Tincture 2% added. Bear in mind that you can add significantly more tincture if you wish, particularly if you wish to have the ambergris easily perceptible in odour rather than simply as a fixative.
If you are seeking a vegan alternative to Ambergris tincture we recommend our acclaimed Ambergris Intense or Absolute Ambergris™ products.
